Even if your wedding budget for floral arrangements isn’t sky-high, with a little creativity and willingness to DIY, you can create breathtaking floral pieces
that complement whatever mood you want your wedding to have; sophisticated or whimsical. Homemade creations, do, however, take some planning and manpower
(or even better, womanpower!) to get the job done. There is fun incentive though - you get to use your own creative powers and create the arrangements of
your dreams exactly as you envision them, while saving tons of cash!
First, choosing the right kind of flowers is the key to saving you thousands of dollars. You obviously want to skip the pricey exotics if you are watching
your budget. Gorgeous daises, tulips and roses are the best ways to go!
Here’s a fabulous little tip for a centerpiece only you will know was not professionally ordered:
Go to your favorite super store in your area and buy some square or oval vases. Then hit the grocery store and buy lemons or limes, depending on your color
scheme. You can either cut the fruits or throw them into the vases whole. Then buy your tulips- yellow to match the green of the limes, purple for a stunning
contrast with the lemons, or whichever color-combination you find most beautiful! Arrange your flowers in the vases in-between the lemons so you can see lemons
at least 2/3 of the way up the vase. This is a beautiful way to bring attention to your centerpieces; they will look amazing on your tables as well as look professionally done!
Approximate cost for 10 tables:
Vases $10/15 each at your local super store
Tulips $10 a dozen at your local flower mart
Lemons $. 40 each (will need about 100)
Limes $.20 each (Will need about 100)
Total Approx. Cost: $250/$300
It’s important to decide the details of ordering your beautiful bouquets. You can choose to buy them the day before and store them in a cool location,
but the best idea is to have the wholesaler agree to drop them off in the morning of your wedding so your flowers will look as perfect as possible. If
you investigate and the wholesaler is unable to do that for you, then send a kind friend or family member out with a van to pick them up. That way, you
have control over the delivery time and also can also make sure you get everything that you ordered.
One final extra tip! If you are having a garden party, a great idea would be to buy some whimsical buckets/adorable little pots and fill them up with
soil and gerber daisies. This is bound to make your guests say “awwww,” while spending practically nothing! Good luck with your custom arrangements, and
be sure to upload the photos of your beautiful creations here so we can all sigh in admiration!
